Day
1 Pacific Coast and Big Sur
The Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is one of the most scenic road
trips anywhere. We’ll start off by driving the PCH and
taking in the incredible views, stopping a few places along
the way to experience it up close. Tonight we’ll stay
in of the coolest areas along the Pacific Coast- Big Sur.
*The June 9-25 tour stops by Big Sur, but does
not overnight there. Overnight will be further south along the
Pacific Coast
Day
2 San Francisco and Northern California
Making way for San Francisco, this town is not like the others.
Check out the Golden Gate Bridge and Fisherman’s Wharf.
See Chinatown. See why San Francisco is often referred to
by travelers as their favorite city. After a brief stop, we’ll
head towards Yosemite and the beautiful North California country.
Day
3, 4 Yosemite National Park
Head underground for a caving expedition to explore mysterious
caverns by foot, hands and knees. Twist, grind, and crawl
on your belly like a reptile for some subterranean adventure.
Don’t want to cave? A wine country town is nearby and
you can spend a few hours there. Then it’s onwards to
one of our favorite national parks in the land, Yosemite.
Bike the valley, float the river, or hike the trails for thrilling
views in this picturesque paradise. See the famous granite
Yosemite symbols El Capitan and Half Dome that loom large
over the valley. Walk among some ‘really big’
trees in the sequoia groves. How big?? The biggest ones are
almost as high as a football field is long.
Day
5 Las Vegas
Our trip continues on to the exciting neon city of Las Vegas.
Explore the surreal sights of the Vegas strip and marvel at
the only place like this on earth.
Days
6 Grand Canyon National Park
Next up are the expansive vistas of the Grand Canyon and it’s
magnitude of space and colors. Isn’t this place on everyone’s
list? And with good reason! Take in the majestic sunrise and
sunset. Hike the trails or putz around at the Rim while enjoying
the breathtaking views and looking for the elusive California
Condor that lives here.
Day
7 Joshua Tree National Park
Today’s route allows for a break in the action to take
a refreshing dip in Lake Havasu after crossing over the original
London Bridge. Then dry off and get into rock climbing mode
as we tackle Joshua Tree National Park and scramble up and
down some martian rock formations. This little park is so
strangely spectacular you’ll think Dr. Seuss had something
to do with building it.
Day
8 LA
Head back to LA for more beach time and a chance to work on
that tan again. Rest up for the second half of the trip.
Days
9,10 Zion National Park
Onwards to Zion National Park where the hiking trails and
surrounding scenery will knock you on your ear. This may be
the best hiking we have found- if you want tough try Angels
Landing for a rewarding experience, and if you want medium
or soft then hike to the Emerald Pools. The next day is for
canyoneering (hiking in a river where the river is the trail)
for the adventurous type. In the afternoon we will do some
extreme tubing on the Virgin River. You won’t want to
miss it.
Day
11 Bryce Canyon National Park
Today we visit one of the most unique parks anywhere, Bryce
Canyon- nature’s sculpture garden. A strangely spectacular
landscape with an explosive contrast of colors, you’ll
want your camera during this hike. Later in the day we’ll
make a splash doing some whitewater rafting down a scenic
Central Utah route.
Day
12, 13 Moab/Arches National Park
The glory rolls on as we take it to Arches National Park w/
it’s unique and unforgiving landscape. Delicate Arch
is a must-see, you will wonder how Balanced Rock stays up,
and Landscape Arch is simply awesome. And since we are in
Moab, the mountain biking capital of the world, it might be
a good idea to get a mountain bike for the day to hit the
legendary Slickrock Trail. If you don’t like mountain
biking you can canoe the nearby Colorado River or hit the
funky downtown area. Or substitute w/ an off-road jeep, hummer,
or ATV tour.
Day
14 Lake Powell
Lake Powell is next. Its gorgeous super-blue and temperate
water makes a dip here most refreshing. Laze on the rock beach
or revitalize with a leisurely swim in the cove. We can also
see the rare slot canyons on a walk-through tour of these
ever-so-smooth element-sculpted formations (bring your camera).
Day
15 Grand Canyon North Rim
The Grand Canyon follows, but this time we will see it from
the other side. The North Rim is very different from the South
Rim we saw earlier in the trip. See which side you like better.
Go on an afternoon hike. Our campsite is right next to the
rim for some killer views. Watch the incredible sunset from
the North Rim Lodge area.
Day
16 Las Vegas
Wake up to an unforgettable sunrise on the North Rim. Maybe
a morning hike before Vegas. Head back to Sin City and bet
all the money you have left on black.
Day
17 LA
The Uber Combo trip closes as we come full circle and finish
off in Los Angeles.
